Homeless

    This series of photographs, with the exception of a couple of pieces, were created with the least amount of direction. All were done in my studio on South Broadway, the area where we met. Some I’ve known for many years, others I met the day I photographed them. The sitters were photographed against a black canvas, away from their daily environment, reducing distractions that would stand in the way of focusing in on each person as an individual.

I am very grateful to this group of individuals for confiding in me to photograph them. Individuals so diverse, the only thing they have in common is, they are all homeless.

Each image is hand printed by Oscar Lozoya using fiber based paper. Then it is mounted and matted using archival, museum rag board. The process is controlled by Oscar at each and every step.
